Why Solar Energy for Your House Makes Sense Here

Making the switch is a no-brainer. Solar energy-powered houses can reduce carbon footprint and energy bills while increasing property value for future sales.
Queenslanders get over 300 days of sunshine each year, so homeowners in this region are the ideal candidates for solar energy. With federal and state feed-in tariffs, rebates, and other incentives available, now is the perfect time to get your solar panels at a discounted rate.
So why not solar power your house, offset daytime usage, and get extra cash from selling your excess energy?

Choosing the Right House Solar System Size

Choosing the right solar system for your house depends on factors such as household usage (kWh/day), roof area & orientation, and any future upgrades (EVs, pool, air-con, growing family).
Average-sized households typically find that a 6.6 kW system is sufficient for their needs. Larger households, dual-living setups, or small commercial buildings may opt for a 10 kW or even a 13 kW house solar system.
A 6.6 kW solar system has about 15–20 panels, and a 13 kW system has 28–36 panels. Of course, the size of your roof will determine what size system you can fit.
North-facing panels will give the best solar output, since we’re in the Southern Hemisphere. Although east and west-facing panels also generate high yields. Refer to the table below for size estimates:

Home Size Household Characteristics Typical Solar System Size
Small Home
Apartment or small house, 1–2 occupants, basic appliances
2–3 kW
Medium Home
Average family home, 3–4 occupants, regular appliance use
4–6 kW
Large Home
Large house, 4+ occupants, high energy use (e.g. pool, air-con)
7–10+ kW

Solar for House Cost on the Gold Coast & Surrounds

The average solar cost for a house in Australia starts at $5,500 for a 6.6 kW system. The 6.6kW system with a solar battery can range from $12,000 to $16,000+. These prices may vary as several factors make up the total cost. The panel quality/tier, inverter type, roof type & complexity, and battery capacity can all influence the final amount you pay.
However, a solar battery house system practically pays for itself. The average payback period ranges from 2.8 to 4.4 years from the annual savings alone. Annual savings for Queenslanders sit around $1,128 to $1,800 (depending on usage and feed-in tariffs).

Black anodised aluminium frame: Protects against extreme weather conditions
Reliable silicone connections: Provide excellent stability and durability.
Salt air durability: Superior performance designed to meet the harsh demands of the Australian climate for decades.
We provide a 30-Year Solahart product warranty and performance guarantee on our Silhouette panels. The 30-Year performance guarantee promises at least 89.4% of nominal power at 25 years and 87.4% at 30 years for stable, long-term reliability.

Adding a Solar Battery for the House

A solar battery for house systems is an optional, but powerful add-on to increase energy independence. Solar panels generate a considerable amount of energy from the sun, but without anywhere to store it, that energy just goes back to the grid or remains unused.

A solar house battery works by storing the excess energy generated from solar panels. This excess energy can be used in the evenings, during winter, or in the event of a blackout (when tied to a compatible battery and backup circuit).

Our Installation Process (What to Expect)

Contact the Solahart team either by phone or via our online form. We begin with an on-site or virtual inspection to assess your roof’s suitability. We’ll then be in touch to discuss options and provide a personalised quote.

Once the quote is accepted, we can create a blueprint of your solar system and arrange an installation date.

On the scheduled day, one of our licensed electricians will arrive to install your solar panels. Mounting brackets are installed first, followed by fitting the solar panels, inverter, and battery (optional). All components will be connected to your home solar system and the grid.

You’ll receive guidance on how to use the monitoring system to track your solar energy usage. During this time, you can ask the electrician any questions you may have. Once your system is installed and activated, your installer will provide you with an electrical compliance certificate.
