The Tesla battery rebate is a celebratory event, celebrating one million Powerwall installations worldwide. This rebate offers up to $4,000 cash back per address for homes installing Powerwall 3 systems and expansion packs.

The Tesla Powerwall rebate, called the “Next Million Powerwall Rebate”, is a new incentive for Australian homeowners to celebrate Tesla reaching over a million Powerwall installations globally.
It gives eligible households a rebate when they purchase and install a Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 Expansion Unit. This rebate is open to new and existing customers between November 6, 2025 and March 31, 2026. The Powerwall(s) must be registered and installed between January 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026.
The rebate will help offset reductions in solar and battery STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates), and it can be combined with other State and Federal incentives, such as the “Cheaper Home Batteries Program”.

How Much Can You Save with the Powerwall Rebate?

Each state in Australia has specific programs to make the Tesla Powerwall 3 and other battery storage systems more accessible for all.
The Tesla battery rebate in Victoria can be combined with the Solar Homes Program for solar and battery installations, which offers interest-free loans of up to $8,800.
In addition to the Tesla battery rebate, NSW residents are eligible for between $2,000 – $4,500 under the Empowering Homes Program. There’s also an additional $200 – $300 discount for those who enrol in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Residents in South Australia can get up to $4,000 through the Home Battery Scheme. Although this does depend on the Tesla Powerwall’s capacity.
The Next Generation Energy Storage Program in the ACT offers up to $3,500 per system or $350 per kWh of usable battery storage. Northern Territory residents can get up to $4,000 under the Home and Business Battery Scheme.
Since the Battery Booster Program has closed, there is currently no state-specific Tesla rebate in QLD. We recommend checking the official State energy websites for current rates, rebates, and all other information related to solar PV systems.

Combining Rebates and Incentives for Maximum Savings
Combine your Tesla Powerwall with a government rebate for even more savings. Your certified Tesla installer can guide you through available Federal and State rebate combinations. How to Apply for the Tesla Battery Rebate
To apply for a Tesla home battery rebate:
- Confirm your eligibility (location, installation timeframe).
- Place your order directly with a Certified Tesla Installer.
- Complete installation (between January 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026) and submit rebate documentation.
- Register for the rebate through the rebate portal by March 31, 2026.
- Receive rebate payment (up to $4,000) up to eight weeks from the date your rebate was approved.
Should You Wait or Install Now?
According to Tesla’s announcement, existing 2025 customers are strongly encouraged to proceed without delay. Besides, there is little benefit to waiting as Powerwall prices and STCs could change. If you act now, you can lock in before reductions in state and federal incentives take place.
Remember, as good as these deals are, they won’t be here forever. That’s why it’s best to act now and avoid missing out because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
